Kappa Announces New National Panhellenic Conference Delegate

Former Fraternity President Beth Black appointed to position
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Oct. 31, 2018) — Kappa Kappa Gamma appoints Beth Black, Illinois Wesleyan, to the role of National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Delegate, which acts as a liaison between Kappa and NPC and influences the future of the sorority experience. Beth accepts the role following the retirement of Patty Gesell, Penn State.

Beth has held numerous roles within Kappa, including Director of Chapters, Vice President and Director of Programs and Education. Most recently, Beth served as President from 2014–18. During her tenure, she oversaw the successful transition of Kappa's organizational structure to a governance model and the move of Kappa Kappa Gamma Headquarters to a new space in Dublin, Ohio. Additionally, she has served on several NPC committees, including the Communications Task Force, the Structure Think Tank and the Structure Transition Committee.
With Patty's retirement, she concludes 39 years of service to Kappa and NPC. She has worked closely with Kappa's membership, serving at both the local and national levels. Patty has served on the Northeast Greek Leadership Association Board of Directors since 2005. In 2009, Patty was appointed NPC Delegate. Since then, she has served as the chairman of the NPC College Panhellenics Committee from 2014–16. In 2016, Patty was honored with the Loyalty Award, Kappa's highest honor.
"Patty's experience and insights in higher education have been instrumental to Kappa," Gail said. "We will miss having her part of our leadership team, but we know she'll continue to have a positive influence on Kappa and the fraternal movement."
Both Beth and Patty attended this month's National Panhellenic Conference Annual Meeting, marking the official transition.
